Esports events are massive productions filled with technology and behind-the-scenes talent. However, when it comes to telling the visual story of the competition happening within the game itself, there's no more high-stakes role than that of the observer.
At the 2023 SVG Esports Production Summit, SVG's Jason Dachman caught up with one of the best to ever sit in the observer's chair, Heather “sapphiRe” Garozzo. The freelance producer/observer director offers her advice for how aspiring observers can find success amidst the chaos of calling a live event and offers a look at her new production company, Raidiant, which specializes in putting on top-flight events for women in gaming and esports.
