ESPN is back with its latest real-time animated alternate presentation of an NFL game: "The Simpsons Funday Football."
Iconic characters from The Simpsons will join an animated recreation of the Monday Night Football game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Dallas Cowboys and it'll all be made possible by a combination of data processing and real-time visualization technology from Sony's Beyond Sports.
This marks the second such NFL alternate presentation done by ESPN, following the Toy Story Funday Football project in 2023 that was honored with three Sports Emmy Awards.
In advance of this unique production, we spoke with Sander Schouten, co-founder and CEO of Sony's Beyond Sports about how tracking technology enables these real-time animations, how the tech has evolved, and how the Sony Sports brand continues to grow.
