SVG’s annual TranSPORT conference returned to New York City for a full day of sessions on October 24th. The event focused on the current state of live-sports-transmission technology. TranSPORT addressed the industry’s latest developments in contribution and distribution technology, including terrestrial and satellite backhaul, IP- and cloud-based transport solutions, the potential of 5G and its impact on bonded cellular, the latest compression standards and transport protocols, 4K and HDR delivery, connectivity needs for REMI/remote productions, and more. Technology leaders from both major sports broadcasters and broadcast vendors took the stage to offer up the latest developments in this integral sector of the sports-media ecosystem.
