The SVG Europe 'Outstanding Contribution to European Sports Broadcasting' award honours someone who has made a significant and lasting contribution to the European sports broadcasting industry, recognising an individual who has had a positive impact on the way sports content is produced and/or shared. In addition to receiving the trophy, the winner participates in a fireside chat discussing their career highlights and achievements.
The recipient for 2025 is Florin Mitu, former FIFA head of host broadcast production. Mitu spent just under ten years at FIFA, joining football’s world governing body in summer 2015, right before the start of the FIFA Women’s World Cup. He went on to lead the host broadcast production planning and successful delivery of the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018, FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023, alongside all other FIFA tournaments.
