As the lead domestic broadcaster for Spanish-language coverage of the 2024 Summer Olympics, Telemundo Deportes is sparing no expense with their live studio programming that is surrounding the 19 days of action. To accentuate their content, create an immersive sense of place, and showcase the architectural beauty of Paris, their studio set was constructed on a building adjacent to the centerpiece of the Place Charles de Gaulle — the Arc de Triomphe — and the nearby Eiffel Tower.
In this interview, Telemundo Deportes' EVP, Sports, Eli Velazquez, details the excitement surrounding these Games, why they chose the location that they did, the importance of using similar shots from programming at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in the same city, their collaboration with NBC Olympics and NBC News to construct this set, and the work being done by the network's technical operations team at the IBC and back at home in Miami.
