15m
Remote production is nothing new in the sports broadcasting community, but when live games add an increasing amount of factors that can cause a greater possibility for failure, the routine can become a high-wire act. Prior to the start of this upcoming weekend's start to the NFL regular season, the Cleveland Browns outsourced production responsibilities for their preseason finale against the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday, Aug. 24. The ones who answered the call to remotely produce this game? Freedom Broadcast Studios, a production company based in Clifton, NJ, which is located nearly 3,000 miles away from Lumen Field.
On this episode of SVG Rewind, we are joined by Freedom Broadcast Studios Co-Owners Joel Kitay and John Brown to discuss why they were chosen to produce this game, the challenges that they resolved during the preparation phase, the technological infrastructure in their control room, how they communicated with the onsite team located on the West Coast, how their company has grown since the COVID-19 pandemic, and more.
