The FIFA Men's World Cup this past summer took over the continent of North America, and in the United States, 11 of the event's 16 venues energized fans from first kick to final whistle. Prior to the competition during the tune-up matches for the United States Men's National Team as well as friendlies for the United States Women's National Team, the U.S. Soccer Federation is producing large-scale shows within big and small venues across the nation. One important member on their Event Production Staff is Theresa Matthews, who serves as a director and showcaller for both USMNT and USWNT matches.
On the latest episode of SVG GameDay, Matthews highlights how the team gets ready for events like the SheBelieves Cup, what's in store for the USWNT's send off to the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil, how the federation balances a packed schedule of fixtures for both squads, how her previous work experience at Sporting KC prepared her for the leap to U.S. Soccer, how her college years at the University of Virginia jumpstarted a career in live events, and much more.
