FPV Drones: Redefining Speed for Skiing, Sliding, and Skating
SVG Europe's Winter Sports Forum 2026
•
29m
First Person View (FPV) drones have evolved from experimental tools into powerful assets for live sports coverage, delivering immersive, high-speed perspectives that place audiences directly inside the action. Recent large-scale deployments in Italy showed how custom-built FPV systems can enhance storytelling while meeting strict safety and broadcast standards. This session examines how bespoke drones engineered for minimal weight, dual-camera capture and precise RF coordination are integrated into complex live production workflows.
Panelists will explore how FPV drones complement traditional camera plans, expanding creative possibilities while meeting growing audience expectations for proximity, motion and immediacy. The discussion will also address the practical challenges of operating these systems, and how the industry can scale FPV deployment as demand for dynamic aerial coverage continues to grow.
Speakers:
Helen Borobokas, Olympic Broadcasting Services, Senior Host Broadcast Producer
Andre Theis, Theis Media, Founder
This session is sponsored by InSync.
